Maître Savonitto - handcrafted in Provence, perfumed with fragrances from Grasse and made to last.

Some products only truly make sense when you understand where they come from. Maître Savonitto is one of them.

Behind each beautifully scented bar is a story of Provence, traditional soapmaking, natural ingredients and the fragrance heritage of Grasse. During our visit to the region, we had the pleasure of meeting Frédéric and seeing first-hand how these soaps are made - and why they feel so different from ordinary hand soap.

Rooted in Provence

Maître Savonitto is manufactured by Atelier du Savon in Seillans, in the Haut Var region of Provence, between land and sea.

The brand takes inspiration from vintage Provence - old apothecaries, traditional drugstores, perfumers’ workshops and the simple joy of discovering beautifully made everyday products. The name Maître Savonitto is said to refer to “Maître Savonnier”, or master soapmaker, combined with the family name of the factory’s founder.

With more than 25 years of recognised expertise, Atelier du Savon combines artisanal French production with carefully developed formulas, natural ingredients and a responsible approach to manufacturing.

Fragrances from Grasse

Fragrance from Grasse brings depth and character to the collection.

Scent is central to the Maître Savonitto experience. The soaps are perfumed with fragrances from Grasse, the world-famous perfume capital of France.

From lavender and verbena to rose, citrus, milk and botanical blends, each soap has a sense of warmth, depth and character. These are not flat, generic fragrances - they feel unmistakably Provençal.

Natural oils, milks and botanicals

Quality is at the heart of Maître Savonitto. Many soaps are made with carefully selected oils, milks, botanicals and active natural ingredients, including olive oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, argan oil, donkey’s milk, goat’s milk, lavender, hemp, spirulina and vegetable charcoal.

During our visit, Frédéric explained how a good soap is not just about bubbles. It is about the base, the balance of the formula and how the skin feels afterwards.

Many modern washes rely heavily on water and synthetic foaming agents. Maître Savonitto takes a more traditional approach, using oils, milks and natural ingredients to create a richer, more nourishing cleanse.

Seeing the process first-hand gave us a deeper appreciation for the care behind every bar.

It is this balance of fragrance, texture and formulation that makes the products feel so different from everyday liquid washes. They are practical, but they also bring a sense of ritual and pleasure into the bathroom.

The result is soap that feels generous and considered - made not only to cleanse, but to leave the skin feeling cared for.

Not just for hands

In the UK, solid soap is often thought of as something for washing hands. In Provence, it is part of a wider daily ritual.

Many Maître Savonitto soaps are designed for the hands, body and face, depending on the individual formulation and skin type. This makes them a more versatile and luxurious alternative to ordinary soap or body wash.

There is something very Provençal about that - simple, natural, fragrant and practical. Perhaps it is the Mediterranean sun, the fresh regional diet, the outdoor lifestyle and the tradition of cleansing with natural oils, but the healthy glow associated with Provence feels closely connected to this way of living.

Our Edenwood journey

For Edenwood, this was never just about adding another French soap brand to the website. We wanted to understand where the products come from, meet the people behind them and experience the region that inspires them.

Travelling through Provence and Marseille gave us a real sense of the place - the colours, the food, the scent of lavender, the old streets, the warmth of the people and the craft behind the products.

Every detail helped us understand the wider story: not just the soaps themselves, but the atmosphere, culture and daily rituals that sit behind them.

Meeting Frédéric and seeing the manufacturing process helped us understand why Maître Savonitto feels so authentic. The shapes, fragrances, ingredients and packaging are not random choices. They belong to a wider story of craft, region and tradition.

That is what we wanted to bring back to Edenwood - not just products, but the feeling of the place they come from.

The visit was about more than sourcing products - it was about experiencing the people, places and culture behind them.

Part of what makes this region so special is how naturally beauty, food, craft and daily life seem to sit together. Provence is not about overcomplication. It is about warmth, scent, texture and everyday pleasure.

This is why Maître Savonitto feels so at home at Edenwood. It is practical and beautiful at the same time, bringing together fragrance, craft, natural ingredients and the kind of small daily rituals that make a house feel more like a home.

Even the simplest moments helped tell the story. The food, the light, the old streets and the pace of life all gave context to the products we had come to see.

Maître Savonitto belongs to this world: beautifully made, useful, full of scent and rooted in place.

Meeting the people behind the products brought the story to life.

Seeing the process first-hand made one thing clear: this is not generic skincare dressed up with a French label. It is a genuine Provençal soapmaking story, shaped by people who understand fragrance, ingredients and craft.

That sense of authenticity is exactly what we want Edenwood customers to feel when they discover the collection.

A little piece of Provence

A Maître Savonitto soap does not need to shout. It sits beautifully by the sink, fills the room with subtle fragrance and turns something as simple as washing your hands, face or body into a more enjoyable ritual.

It is practical, beautiful and full of character - exactly the kind of product we love bringing to Edenwood.
